Application dates after SPM: UPU, Matriculation, Form 6 and TVET

Most public routes after SPM run on fixed calendars. Miss a window and you may wait a year. This page lists the dates that were officially published for the 2026/27 intake (for SPM 2025 leavers), so you can see the pattern. If you sat SPM in 2026, you will apply for the 2027/28 intake, and those dates had not been published when we checked on 22 October 2026.^[1] Treat every 2026 date below as a guide to timing, not as your deadline.

UPUOnline: the main application for public institutions

One UPUOnline application covers certificate, Asasi, diploma and degree programmes at 20 public universities, 36 polytechnics, 106 community colleges and 2 MARA college groups.^[2]

2026/27 dates (for SPM 2025 leavers)

The circular planned the main results for the second week of May. They were actually announced on 22 May. Plans move, so follow the official channels: upu.mohe.gov.my, the UPUPocket app and BKPA UPU's social media.^[2]

Rules that catch people out

• You must fill at least six of your twelve choices, in order of preference. Choices 1 to 4 are kept for programmes with interviews or tests.^[2]
• You can update your choices until the window closes, but you must resubmit for the change to count.^[2]
• Your merit score is 90 per cent academic and 10 per cent co-curricular.^[2] Use the merit calculator in e-Panduan before you choose.
• Accept within nine days of the results, or you are treated as having declined.^[3]
• Only some people can appeal: those with no offer, or with only a community college certificate offer. If you decline or ignore an offer, you cannot appeal.^[3]
• Offers are final.^[3]

Matriculation (KPM)

Matriculation has its own application at matrikulasi.moe.gov.my, separate from UPU.^[6] The latest window we could confirm was for the 2025/26 session: phase one ran from 1 December 2024 to 28 February 2025, for students sitting SPM 2024.^[7] We could not load the official site to confirm the 2026/27 window. If the pattern repeats, students sitting SPM 2026 should watch for a window from around December 2026, before results come out.

Form 6

You do not normally apply. If you meet the requirements, you are offered a place automatically, and offers are checked on sst6.moe.gov.my.^[8] Ask your school when offers and appeals open for 2027.

TVET (UP_TVET Perdana): open now

The January 2027 intake (Siri 1/2027) takes applications from 1 October to 16 November 2026, with offers from 17 to 27 November and acceptance from 30 November to 6 December 2026.^[9] A July intake follows, with applications opening after SPM results.^[10]

Your 2027 calendar, as a pattern

• Now to 16 November 2026: TVET Perdana 1/2027, if you want a January start.
• From about December 2026: watch for the Matriculation window.
• From about late January 2027: buy your UPU PIN and apply. In 2026 the window opened on 29 January.
• When SPM results come out: check your merit score and update your UPU choices before the window closes.
• About May 2027: UPU results, then nine days to accept.

All of these must be confirmed on the official sites when they are announced.

What to do next

1. Put three reminders in your phone now: 16 November 2026 (TVET), 1 December 2026 (check Matriculation), 20 January 2027 (check UPU).
2. Open e-Panduan UPUOnline (online.mohe.gov.my/epanduan) and save six to twelve programmes you would accept.
3. Make sure a parent or guardian knows the nine-day acceptance rule, so an offer is not missed.
