What First Move gives your child
Real-world exposure
Beyond the classroom
Practitioners, not lectures
Working adults from many industries
Safe and structured
Facilitated by Mereka
A plan, not a verdict
Clear next steps for the next 90 days
The three days
Three days of trying real work, not a lecture series.
Each day mixes doing, talking and reflecting, in small pods of nine with trained facilitators.
- Day 1 · Discover
Me and the map
Discover what you value, see the eight career areas and research the routes after SPM.
- Day 2 · Experiment
Try the work
Try two practical tasters and talk to eight people who do the work.
- Day 3 · Decide
Make the move
Run a first-salary month, weigh the cost of each route and write your plan.
What your child leaves with
A map they built themselves, with the evidence behind it.
Their Future Map answers seven questions from what they actually tried, heard and worked out. It is their record: it is not a test score, a personality type or a prediction of the right career.
Me
What do I value, enjoy and do well?
My options
Which pathways fit, and how do they compare on pay, stability and growth?
The work
What did I try, and what did I think of it?
The people
Who have I spoken to who does this work?
The future
Which tasks will AI leave alone, augment, automate or create?
The money
What does the first year cost and pay, and how might it grow?
My next 90 days
What are my next steps?
Their map is theirs: you see the parts they choose to share with you, in a version they publish, as at the Day 3 share-out.

Follow along
Keen to follow? Your child invites you.
Parents follow a learner in the Explorers app, or in any browser, once their child invites them. We never connect a parent by email address or because they paid.
- 1
Your child sends you an invitation
By WhatsApp, a link or a QR code at the info session or the Day 1 briefing.
- 2
Sign in with your own Mereka account
Open the link, sign in and confirm what you agree to. The link works once and lasts 14 days.
- 3
Follow the programme
See what First Move shares with families, from the schedule to the notices the team sends.
What you see
- The dates, the venue and the day-by-day schedule
- Safety information and the team's contact for families
- Notices the team sends to families
- Your child's arrival record for each day
- What they need to prepare, and whether it is done
What stays theirs
- Their private reflections and answers
- Anything in their plan they keep private
- Their support needs and other learners' details
From 18, a learner decides for themselves whether a parent follows their programme.
The Explorers app for parents is on its way to the App Store and Google Play. Until then everything works here in your browser, on any phone or computer.
Safety
Supervised and structured, every day.
Supervised arrival and collection
Supervised arrival opens at 08:30 each day. We send joining instructions, the venue address and the collection arrangements before the programme starts.
Practitioners meet learners in the room
Every practitioner session happens at the venue, in groups, with facilitators present.
Who to contact
The team answers families by email before and during the programme, and sends notices for families to linked parents.
Under 18s
A parent or guardian agrees to a minor taking part, in their own words, through their own account.
