Key facts
Institution: UMS PPST in Kota Kinabalu lists Science, Information Technology and Agriscience foundation routes; the Social Science brochure section says details will follow. Check the exact programme, not only the university name.[1]
Duration: the linked Science brochure gives at least one year/two semesters, with a maximum four semesters from registration. It describes progression to UMS, subject to the programme’s conditions.[2]
Intake: the official offer-check page shows a past 23–30 May 2026 checking window for 2026/2027, now closed. This is not the next application window; the next dates are not published on that page.[3]
Science entry in the linked brochure
The brochure requires Malaysian citizenship, five SPM credits including BM and a History pass. It restricts the route to Malay, Sabah/Sarawak native and Orang Asli applicants. It also lists E in Additional Mathematics, C in Mathematics and C in two listed science/technical subjects. Check the full subject list against your results.[2]
The brochure does not state a publication year and uses an older application-category label. Its requirements are evidence of what UMS currently links, not confirmation of the next intake’s rules. Ask PPST to confirm the current code and requirements in writing.[2][1]
Costs and a different programme
A current all-in fee total for the PPST Science foundation is not published in the linked brochure checked. Request tuition, registration, hostel, deposits and aid details before comparing offers.[2]
Do not mix the routes: UMSFLEC’s separate Pra Asasi Sains FST advert for August 2026 lists two semesters/32 weeks and RM3,650 tuition for the programme, with applications closed 31 July 2026. That is a different named offer, not the price or entry rule for PPST Asasi Sains. Its notice does not itemise all living costs.[4]
First salary: a first-salary range for finishing these pre-university routes is not published in the checked sources. A list of later degrees does not guarantee entry to medicine, engineering or another course.[2][1]
What this means for you
Studying in Sabah can still mean hostel and travel costs. Compare the exact foundation’s progression conditions with Form 6, Matrikulasi and a diploma, with help from a school counsellor. Ask which later universities accept it before assuming you can transfer.
Your next step
Ask PPST to send the current intake booklet and itemised fees for your exact programme code. Separately ask UMSFLEC if you mean Pra Asasi. Save both replies so your family compares like with like.
