Key facts
TESP is a loan for diploma or first-degree study in MARA-specified fields and domestic institutions. An institution’s recognition does not automatically approve every course for funding.[1]
The applicant and at least one parent must be Malaysian citizens with Bumiputera status. MARA also lists blacklist, disciplinary/criminal, health and recognised-course conditions. Academic rules follow the policy in force.[1]
TESP lists diploma age under 30 and first-degree age under 40, with priority for B40/M40 family backgrounds. These are loan rules, not the age limit for every TVETMARA course.[1]
Entry, intake and duration
A next opening/closing window, universal award amount and exact funded duration are not published on the general page checked. Use the current intake notice, approved course list and award agreement. Ask whether study extensions are covered.[1]
MARA disallows other agency aid/sponsorship at the same study level. If you already have another award, ask both sponsors about release or cancellation before accepting another.[1]
Costs, salary and source differences
The general page does not publish one repayment-reduction percentage or full borrowing cost for everyone. Ask for tuition coverage, living allowance, extra charges, first payment and withdrawal terms in writing.[1]
M56’s separate TVETMARA listing says tuition is funded by MARA. This is not proof of TESP approval or free living costs. No unresolved contradiction was found in TESP’s general criteria. First salary: not published by this loan scheme.[1][2]
What this means for you
Put the course offer beside the finance offer. List what is paid, what your family pays and what you owe if you stop or change course; discuss gaps with the sponsor and financial-aid office.
Your next step
Find the current notice for your study level. Confirm the exact course code, existing-sponsor position, financial schedule and agreement before signing.
