Sources checked on 23 October 2026. Intake dates and charges below belong to the named route and year; recheck before applying.

Key facts

  • Route and duration: KKM-sponsored ILKKM training includes nursing, medical laboratory technology, pharmacy and other health routes. Direct-entry diplomas take three years; certificate routes take two. These are different qualifications.[1]
  • Intakes: SPA’s updated text says April and October, effective from the October 2026 intake. Its FAQ on the same page still says January and July. Follow the dated intake advert; confirm with SPA if it differs.[1][2]
  • Apply through SPA9. The October 2026 round ran from 25 February to 3 March 2026 and has closed. That closing date is not a future application window.[3]

Entry: nursing is one example

For SPM direct-entry applicants, SPA lists Malaysian citizenship, a BM credit, age at least 18 at the advert’s closing date and no more than 25 in the study session. Each diploma has its own subject rules.[1]

Nursing requires credits in BM, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and a listed Science subject; at least D in English and at least E in two other subjects. These are ILKKM nursing rules, not a rule for every health diploma or private nursing college.[2]

SPA lists nursing training sites in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Kuching and Sibu among others. KKM assigns the training institute; a nearby campus is not a guaranteed placement.[2][1]

Costs and first salary

The source describes KKM sponsorship. An itemised current fee bill, allowance rate, compulsory purchases and repayment/bond terms are not published in the training pages checked. Ask for the offer pack before budgeting.[1][2]

For nursing diploma holders registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board, SPA publishes RM1,974 monthly starting basic pay at U5. A course-specific first-salary range across all KKM diplomas is not published here. This is basic public-service appointment pay, not take-home pay, private-sector pay or a job guarantee.[4]

SPA says permanent or contract appointments depend on current vacancies. Training sponsorship does not promise an appointment.[1]

What this means for you

Compare the work, not just the word “health”: patient care, laboratory work and rehabilitation have different daily tasks. Ask a practitioner and school counsellor what you would need to explore before choosing.

Your next step

In SPA9, find the exact training title and compare its subject list with your official results. Ask SPA about the next dated advert and KKM about costs, sponsorship conditions and campus allocation.
