Key facts
A Mereka Academy course, created by the Ban Ki-moon Centre with Dubai Cares, Unbounded Associates and Plan International.[1] Free: the only enrolment options cost RM0, with no paid certificate.[2] Open now: it started on 1 January 2026, with no end date or enrolment deadline set as at 23 October 2026.[2]
What you'll do
The Ban Ki-moon Centre created this course with support from Dubai Cares, together with Unbounded Associates and Plan International[1]. Six modules with videos, interactive assignments and reflection spaces help you learn about climate change, the wide range of jobs that help tackle it, and your own skills and talents[1]. You finish with a clear sense of your next step, whether further study, vocational training, an internship or a start-up[1].
To complete the course you study at least 50% of the material and finish the final assignment in Module 6[1].
About the pacing: the course description calls it self-paced, but the platform is set to instructor-paced, which means the course team controls when sections open[1][2]. It has been open since 1 January 2026, so you should be able to start straight away; if a section looks locked, tell the programme team.
How to start
- Open the course page(opens in a new tab) and choose Sign in, then the Mereka option[4].
- Enrol. There is nothing to pay[2].
Who it suits
You, if you liked the Environment & Sustainability taster or the resource audit. It also covers vocational routes, so it suits you if green trades such as solar installation interest you as much as degrees[1].
What this means for you
- Ten hours is a real commitment: plan two or three weeks at about an hour a session, and leave time for the Module 6 assignment.
- You end with a shortlist of green roles that fit you and a first step towards one, which is exactly what your Future Map needs.
- The course description also mentions a mentorship programme. The page does not say whether it is open to you, so do not count on it.
- For the Malaysian side (which green jobs exist here and how to train for them), read the library's Environment & Sustainability guides.
Your next step
- Enrol in Your Future in Green Jobs(opens in a new tab) and finish module 1 before your 30-day check-in.
- Complete the Module 6 assignment before your 90-day check-in and add your next step to your Future Map.
